hi everyone!

did everyone have a good christmas? i did! i got lots of presents--new clothes, new toys, and LOTS of treats! i LOVE opening presents! it's so much fun! Thank you to my doggie friends, dotchi, karlee, kooper, and spunky! and to my family for all the presents! i can't wait until next christmas!

my mom is worried about new years eve, because fireworks scare the bajeezus out of me. she's already got a whole arsenal of things to help me not be scared AND my dad is gonna stay home with me! yay!

pet toy insurance

we always joke that ollie is racking up a large toy-repair surgical bill. he likes got gnaw on the same parts of his toys. ears, legs, tails...my mom sews everything back together. especially on his favorite toys. his favorite being, RACOON.

Poor racoon no longer has any ears, and his one paw should be amputated, but it's just a lot shorter than the others. hahaha. poor guy is dying a slow death.

this was just the other day...

we thought we'd buy a replacement racoon for when the current one can no longer withstand any more "surgeries"....WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!!

scared ollie pollie

ollie did so well during 4th of july that i wasn't worried about new years eve...until now.

i don't know what changed, but now he's positively scared of fireworks. someone started setting off fireworks last night around 630pm and again at 7pm....ollie was so scared he started shivering until about midnight. he would hide under chairs, behind your feet, in cupboards, behind the bed.....he was so scared.

i don't know what changed between july and now...in july he didn't even seem to notice the loud booming noises, but now he jumps and shakes.

so i've been told several things...

mild tranquilizer...

rescue remedy...has anyone tried this???

thunder shirts...i can't find one small enough.. :(

day care!

Ollie spent friday at the groomers/day care (fur love)!

I had a company Christmas party on friday, and ollie unfortunately couldn't attend, so he went to the groomers and stayed the day for day care. i was a little worried (i'm such a worry wort mom!) that he wouldn't like staying all day but boy was i wrong! When i went to pick him up the other dogs rushed to the door to see who came in, ollie was one of the last of the pack, just following the group...he could care less who came in he was too busy following the pack then he glanced up and saw me, and just seemed to look like, "oh, it's my mommy!" then he pushed his way through to the gate...

The other day i was wrapping christmas gifts, while ollie "helped"...and by helped, i mean, sniffed, licked and walked over the wrapping and gifts. then i noticed it got really quiet. where was he? on the couch....first he wasn't allowed on the couch...then he could sit on the couch but he had to be on a blanket (notice the blanket is there, but he's not on it)

after awhile i turned to look to see if he was still there.
he wasn't.
i started looking all over the apartment for him, starting to get a little worried, then i heard his bell jingle from the couch...but he wasn't there...
or was he?
he was hiding behind the pillows!

my mom tied the bunny to him just to see what he'd do,
we figured that he'd hate it since he doesn't like his backpack, but blue bunny was like that all afternoon! hahahaha.

holiday outings...

ollie had to excursions this holiday weekend...

the first was on black friday, we went to nolan's friend's store, Noteworthy.

ollie did really well: no barking, no bathroom accidents, and he made a new friend!

zoey would laugh every time she saw ollie, it was the cutest thing!

today ollie went to the grand re-opening of the Hawaii Doggie Bakery!

he had fun playing with other doggies that were there, and he also saw his friend Karlee who was on her way to her puppy class graduation! Congrats Karlee & Kooper!

he also loves to go in the shower and munch on whatever bottle is on the ground.

a quick hello from ollie

hello blog readers!
my mommy has been very behind in blogging so i thought i would stop by and say hello!
i'm still barking at 1:30am and 3:30am everynight. i'm a night time terror!!! ;p
you know what i discovered yesterday? mommy's ugg boot! there's some kind of fuzzy thing in there that i want to eat, but my mom won't let me. it's pretty warm and snuggly in there!

and i'm also excited to be going to a dog park on saturday with my friends, dotchi, karlee, kooper and spunky! it'll be my first time, anybody have any tips for me and my mom?

walking zombie

i am a walking zombie.
ollie used to be so good and sleep through the night.
now, he's waking up all the time and barking his heart out.
it's gotten so bad that now it's every 2 hours!
i can't sleep. nolan is getting pissed.....

help!

nine months two days.

Ollie is 9 months and 2 days old today! I can't believe i've had him since april!

So Ollie's first Halloween was....an experience. He had 3 costumes...one i bought for $7, one was handed down to him, and one was an omiyage from korea.

First up is ollie-bee! my mom brought this shirt back from korea, it has a hood too. it's super cute and he likes wearing this one.

then there was, Ollie Cullen-Salvatore! This was his $7 vampire costume i found that was way too big. we tried to alter it to fit him, but it didn't come out so great and the fit was still too big. he didn't really enjoy this one.

Then comes fireman ollie! His friend spunky was too big for this costume so passed it on to ollie, and it was a perfect fit! this was his trick or treat costume!

Ollie barked up a storm at my sister's house---pretty embarassing.
i think he just wanted to play with bula, but bula only wanted to sniff his butt. ollie didn't appreciate the excessive butt sniffing and decided to just sit down.

WHAT IS GOING ON?!!?

the past few days ollie has been super hyper...the past 2 nights he's woken up in the middle of the night (which he hasn't done since he first moved to the new apartment).
at work he's been really good (surprisingly since it's been a week with no grandma playing with him all day)...but as soon as he gets home he's needy and in constant need of attention. he's also flipping over his water bowl all the time and when he gets into the bathroom, he claws at the TP on the side of the toilet and chews up the bath mat...grrrr!

-is it the fact that he's good all day, so when he gets home he wants attention?

-does he need more exercise?---i take him walking on the roof deck at work and i run him around right before dinner...how much exercise does a little guy need?

-is it the full moon? he is a little werewolf, after all...

ollie has a big day today, his "cousin" chase is coming to visit him!

Ollie recieved his first piece of mail last week!
i actually think that he may have gotten mail before i did....that's kinda embarrassing, no?

His friends Karlee & Kooper sent him a card and picture they had taken at petco hoping it would entice ollie to want to drive to ewa beach to play with them.

{if only ollie's mama knew how to even get to ewa beach...total townie.}

pet walk 2010

this past sunday i took ollie on his first pet walk!
we did the half mile course....i didn't want to over do it for his first time, and it was a good call. he was pooped!
i was worried that he wouldn't like it/be scared/bark continuously at other dogs/get trampled. turns out i had nothing to worry about. in fact, i think it's safe to say that it was one of the best days of his life. he got to meet and play with many other dogs. he stopped to say hello to every do he passed. he was outside--which he loooves. he was full steam ahead for almost the entire 1/2 mile...

i think i need to look into other pet walks!

new toys!

nolan's parents went on an alaskan cruise recently and brought back some omiyage for ollie. he got a little squeaky toy (he LOVES squeaky toys) made in a more durable fabric...i swear, toys are not made well if a little 3 pounder can tear things open in a day, i don't see how they last w/bigger dogs!!!

he also got a tshirt that he's excited to wear as soon as his cone-of-shame comes off (which is tomorrow!).

he also got a pillow pet to lounge on...which i'm really glad i bought because i also meant to buy this martha stewart dog bed i saw online at petsmart because it was super cute and because it totally matched our condo color scheme! BUT the first bed style i wasn't available online (neither was the toy bin i wanted) AND then the second bed style--which was available online--wouldn't let you pick your color. it said "blue or brown, red or white----let us pick for you"
ummm.....WHAT?!?

i.want.the.blue.one. and knowing my luck they'd send me the brown over and over. so....no martha bed...just a pillow pet.

and finally, the toy he picked all on his own...
we had gone to petco before his surgery to buy some pet bath wipes (since he couldn't have a bath for 2 weeks!) to help him stay somewhat clean and smell nice. {they work pretty well, btw}. anyway, we thought we'd get him a new toy while we were there. i can never seem to decide given the vast selection so i was standing in the aisle, going "how bout this one? or this one? or maybe this one? what do you think???" then finally i gave up and decided to let ollie pick one himself. so i held him up and slowly walked him down the aisle and he stopped at this one and stuck his nose on it and wouldn't move. it was pretty funny. i wasn't actually thinking he'd really end up picking one. but he did. this funny looking bunny (that has since undergone 2 toy-surgeries because it's busted open twice already!)

a letter from ollie

dear readers,

hi everyone! i'm doing good, my stitches are healing just fine, and i actually have become hungry all the time! my mommy thinks i'm going to get fat. oh well, i'm only 3 pounds! today is my last day of my antibiotics that my mommy has been sneaking into my treats. i know it's there, but i play along to make her happy. i'm a good boy. =) now if only i could get rid of this stupid cone around my neck! people call me all kinds of names...cone head, lampshade, ollie-gaga...it's ok. i don't mind!

prayers for peanut

Please pray for peanut...{puppy peanut}

In my earlier post, i mentioned that ollie's girlfriend Peanut was really sick, but i didn't know why. Well....turns out she has something called a liver shunt. you can read about it here. when i did some research, i found out it's very common in yorkies. (freaked me out a little bit). She's going in for her first surgery today...to try to find the shunt/vessel (as you can tell i'm not totally informed on the process). When they find it, she has to have a second surgery to remove or clamp it shut. Such a scary situation, and the cost of these surgeries are huge! makes you re-think pet insurance, right? i'm definitely going to seriously consider it (again).

now pet insurance. Darwin's mommy told me all about it (thank you brooke!), and we were all set to make the purchase but my mom and vet told me we didn't need it....{the vet is my mom's good friend, so you know how that goes...} but when i asked about this type of procedure, i find out that he doesn't do that, and i was referred to another place....SO...if ollie were to need some sort of care that my vet can't provide, i will most likely need insurance....definitely hitting that purchase button this time!

life in a cone...

Ollie is home!
i picked him up this morning...the vet's office was bustling with people picking up and dropping off their pooches. Ollie did great, no complications...and he had 4 teeth pulled. {small dogs sometimes don't lose all their baby teeth on their own, so they have to be pulled...ouch!} he no longer has double rows of teeth!

He can't have a bath for 2 weeks, and he has to wear his cone for 2 weeks! poor guy. he can barely fit in his carrier with it on! When i took him back to work, he inhaled his dog food and drank a ton of water, then passed out.

he seems tired, and dare i say, a bit sad...must be missing his manhood! ;p

i dropped off ollie at the vet's office this morning.

they gave me a no-go for taking him home tonight {boo!}...
luckily i had told ollie that he was going to a sleepover. hahahahaha.

i think ollie has a case of small-man complex. he always likes to bark at the big dogs! there he was at the vet, barking at these two dogs well over 50lbs! completely ignoring the little chihuahua and maltese.

please pray/send positive thoughts to ollie's girlfriend, peanut.
she has to have surgery for---honestly, i have no idea, but she's really sick :(
