ollie's job

nolan and i honestly believe that ollie feels that it is his job to wake nolan up and make sure he stays up....first he'll wake nolan up and once nolan is out of bed and in the bathroom ollie will sit on the edge of the bed watching him to make sure he doesn't go back to sleep. it's pretty funny....ollie is a true creature of habit. i caught the little guy in action once again:

earlier this month nolan and i celebrated our 1-year anniversary...per tradition, we ate our 1 year old top-tier of our wedding cake....ollie decided that he too would have a piece of cake:

ollie excited for cake!

licking his chops

going in for the taste

the cake lasted about a week, and every time someone had a slice, ollie stuck to them like glue with the happiest face on :)

september bark box

ollie received his September bark box in record speed this month! i wonder if it's to make up for their uber slooooow shipping method from last month?

We are very excited about September's box! {very, very!}  last month's box was a little disappointing for us, as nothing really appealed to him except for the moose antler, which he gave up on after a day and the toy that he played with for 5 minutes.

this month's box is much more up his alley:

to get more into detail, we love that there are z-bones...ollie loves bones like this to chew on...i think they're easier for him than antlers. he's had a few before, but his ultimate favorites have been terrabones as of late.  he's currently working on the carrot flavor zbone right now.  The whole life treats are also great! ollie loves dehydrated treats like these sweet potato ones and the little bag of dehydrated chicken.  there was also the barkworthies angus power bar that has been his absolute favorite box item. it seems very similar to an antler, but it's much easier for him to chew....he looks for it every day when we go to work. :) There was also a bath wipe (LA fresh) that will come in handy, as he gets wiped down daily before bed (neat freak dad).  The coupon, i'm not sure if we'll use as those sites tend to not be shipping-to-hawaii-friendly...but i'll go check it out.  and lastly, the dud of the box was the hurley toy.  ollie didn't like it at all. oh well...

very great box, barkbox!!! =)

A sock monkey kind of day

It's funny that this morning Ollie went to his toy box and pulled out Santa monkey to play with....

Nolan and I just so happen to be going to a sock monkey themed baby's first bday today!

Kinda eerie, no?

august bark box

ollie's august bark box finally arrived on AUGUST 31st.  according to bark box representatives, they tried a different form of shipping this month, which resulted in extremely slow shipping to those on the west coast and hawaii. hopefully they go back to the original shipping method!

i'm too lazy to go through each item, so this photo of the info card will have to do:

i don't know if it's the smell of the treats, but ollie always seems to know that that box is for him! it's so difficult to get him to take a picture with his goodies, before he wants to tear everything open!

now, this month's box wasn't a favorite of ours...the treats were in a hard biscuit form, which ollie never seems to care about.  he only really gets excited about jerkey type treats...i don't know why. maybe he has sensitive teeth?   the milk bone trail mix was cute and clever, but the internet forums have made me a little wary about brands like milk bone and iams....the paranoia is making me debate giving it to him.  i've also seen other comments on blogs and facebook of people not please with this item as well. (doesn't help my paranoia).  the toy was also a little too big.  {hmmm, maybe they need to make a XS dog box. } normally he likes plush toys, but he did play with it a little this morning, i think just because it's new. and the nature's miracle spray...i only used once. it was ok. we'll see.   the item he was most excited about (grabbed it out of the box and went running "stay away mommy this is mine!") was the antler.  i previously had bought him a deer antler, which it think was too difficult for him to chew...once he could no longer reach the marrow, he gave up...this antler was cut in a way where the marrow is exposed, so it's easier for him to get to...although i still think these antler chews are a little too hard for him. he still picks it up every now and then:

looking forward to the september box!!!

Happy birthday to my grandma!

Today is my grandma's birthday! Happy birthday grandma! Thank you for always puppy sitting me and for grooming me! You're a much better groomer than my mommy! And thank you for always playing with me and for not getting mad at all my nose marks on your windows! I love you!
Love, Ollie
