ollie's christmas...

ollie had a very eventful christmas holiday…

on christmas eve we went over to my mom's house to open gifts with our family and have dinner.  of course ollie had to visit his friends, the fish….

ollie also loved opening gifts, and checking out every one else's gifts as well:

on the way home from my parent's house, we drove around to see the christmas lights. ollie was passed out in his chair, but as soon as i said "pretty lights!" he perked right up to look at the lights and all the people:

after a long night, ollie was exhausted:

he had a good night's rest and woke up bright and early to open all of his presents:

he loves presents!

stay tuned for ollie's special christmas visit!

trash can be very entertaining...

it's amazing what can entertain a dog...I took Ollie by the state capitol the other sunday, and while there are normally a good amount of fish and ducks, there were none (I think they were hiding) when we went. instead we encountered a lot of wind (which made great rippling in the water that Ollie loved) and a lot of trash in the water (probably left from the same sex marriage crowds earlier in the week)....

needless to say, Ollie was captivated by the big chunk of cardboard left floating in the water. he didn't want to leave it. I wonder if he thought it was a big fish....

after his romp around the state capitol, it was back home for a bath, followed by his favorite post-bath activity: humping lumpy....I have no idea why this is his go to activity. lol...

then it was time for a nap....all that excitement really tires him out.

what is that?!?!

what's this fun thing in the water?!?!
bocha time!

lumpy time!

New toys

How fitting that the day after Halloween Ollie breaks his Halloween toy...but in walks his friend from our accounting office with a new toy for him!

How lucky! He was ecstatic!
my toy broke :(
yay! new toy! let's play!
I shall name you, green monster!

No barricades please!

This past Halloween we went to my parents new house to see if there were a lot of trick-or-treaters (hardly any), but their realtor did stop by to have them sign some papers...Ollie does not like her so we had to keep him in the bedroom.

Ollie hates being separated from the action and the chance to bark at those he doesn't like...

I know she's there! I can smell her!

i'm not giving up!

what's taking so long?

mama, what's taking so long? lemme at her!

Chewy stick

one of Ollie's favorite treats are pizzle/bully sticks. I love them because it keeps him occupied when I can't give him my full attention (esp. when washing dishes/cooking) the swirly ones he can chew through fairly quickly, but these twisted ones take some time. we usually buy him the smaller 6" ones for small dogs, but they were out of them the last time we went to the store (calvin + Susie)...so we just bought the bigger ones. 12" stick. LOVE them. they last even longer, and we don't have to buy so much or as frequently!

Pumpkin

it's October, and we can now bust out Ollie's festive toys!
who am I kidding...we don't cycle them out seasonally, we just forgot about it until now. but ollie loves his jack-o-lantern toy. he chases it, plays volleyball with it (i'll toss it gently at him and he'll hit it back at me with his nose), and he carries it around....

it rolls good too, so he has a blast chasing after it too!

pet walk 2013

Last weekend was the annual Hawaiian humane society pet walk.  Ollie and I have attended every year since we've been pup and fur mom....his first walk was when he was just 8 months old. I actually think that was his best year. he was still a puppy, and he was filled with excitement and he plowed through everything!
no photos mommy!

now Ollie is SUUUPER excited in the beginning, and then tires himself out before the walk actually begins!

we ran into our friends and their dogs...we tried to take a group photo, and everyone behaved and sat nicely....except Ollie. butt to the camera! so shame.
"no photos mommy! i'm busy!"

ollie even made it into a clip on the news about the event!  it was his 2 seconds of fame. and i'm a proud fur-mama!!!

therapy dogs bring smiles....

the other week we took Ollie to visit my grandma again. she loves when he goes to see her.  on this visit he brought his pizzle stick and let my grandma hold it for him while he snacked on it...she was pretty amused!
Ollie and grandma
also on this particular visit, there was a new resident in the house that had heard him barking and asked if she could see him.  we normally keep Ollie in my grandma's room because we know there is a resident that does not like dogs.

we were a little hesitant because sometimes there are people that Ollie does not react well to, and we never know how he will react. but the nurse was insistent that Ollie go see this new resident.

my mom took Ollie out to the living room and went to meet the new resident. Ollie was amazing with her. he let her pet him and he sat nicely and seemed completely at ease.  (sometimes around children, he'll let them pet him, but you can tell he doesn't enjoy it and try to run away)  the woman was so happy and said she loves dogs and that she has a small dog at her home, but no one brings it to visit her. my mom said Ollie made that lady's day. i'm so glad.

we also took Ollie to visit a family friend who was in hospice care. he sat on her lap and also "held hands" with her. he would put his paw on her hand. it was really sweet and so comforting to see that he brought a smile to her face.

looks like ollie

yes, i'm one of those crazy dog ladies that has dog-shirts!  it's rare you find nice yorkie printed things. i'm constantly seeing French bulldogs, hot dog dogs, pugs....but rarely yorkies.

after posting this picture on instagram, a friend of mine directed me to this site: arm the animals
where they have a shirt/character called atomic dog, which is a yorkie! that is definitely going to be my next purchase!!! a cute yorkie shirt and for a good cause! :)

"mommy, I want no part of this. you are embarrassing me!"

Reunited

sing it with me now,
reunited and it feels so goooood.....

Ollie + peanut

after almost a whole year, Ollie and his girlfriend peanut were together again!  peanut went through a pretty lengthy "custody battle" and has finally been able to see her daddy again! and that means Ollie can now see his girlfriend again!

Ollie was SO excited when we brought him over, he even remembered the apartment building where peanut lives....we drove past it once looking for street parking, and he started whimpering and crying with excitement. he knew where he was going!

I think it has been a pretty long time, and peanut had only been "home" for a few hours so I think she was still in an adjustment period. she seemed happy to see Ollie, yet a little apprehensive. Ollie on the other hand was crazy excited! play peanut! play!

hopefully as peanut gets re-acclimated with her home, she will remember her first love, Ollie :)

Naughty!

naughty! naughty!
Ollie can be quite the demanding little pup...whenever he is being a piggy (i.e. asking for more food than he should be eating) he'll nudge at his food bowl and snort until someone either refills it, or adds more chicken.  if people ignore him, he threatens to tip his water bowl over.  he'll bark or snort to get your attention, and when you look at him, he'll hold his paw over the bowl in a threatening manner. talk about manipulative!  and if you continue to ignore him, the goes to town on his water bowl :
"see what happens mommy?"
