happy easter!

an easter greeting from ollie:

ollie had a really fun easter. he got an easter carrot from the easter bunny and some treats from his cousin bula :) he also had fun tossing around a pink easter egg around the house.

a little update: ollie had a semi-rough night the night following his supposed "seizure"...like he was scared to return to the bed, so he slept on the couch after hiding behind the paper shredder (again)....but last night he chose to sleep in the bed and everything seems back to normal! this morning he was full of pep and back to his normal self, just in time for easter!!!

ollie's ruff 2 days...

it's been a "ruff" 10+ hours for poor ollie pollie.

last night nolan came home and ollie woke up and went to greet him. when it was time to go back to sleep, we couldn't find him on the couch (his normal spot if he's not in the bed)...we found him hiding behind some bins by the paper shredder under our side table. he was shaking and looked scared...but nothing had happened that would scare him so we were confused and worried... i picked him up to try to take him back to the bed but he flipped out and ran off the bed. we found him under our shoe shelves...way in the back. shaking. he wouldn't let us touch him or pick him up :(

nolan was finally able to pick him up and get him to the couch. he was still shaking...similar to when he's cold or scared but more excessive and noticeable. we thought something had just spooked him and he was scared. i did call the 24 hour VCA, but i decided to just wait it out. if he didn't stop shaking after awhile we'd take him in....it eventually stopped and i slept with him on the couch. i didn't know what else to do so i put his thundershirt on.

he was his normal self by this morning.

luckily this morning he was going in for his annual exam anyway so when i told the vet what had happened, he said he could have had a very mild seizure. :( he said not all seizures are severe where it looks like what you imagine seizures to look like.....that it was very mild and there's not much you can do unless it becomes more frequent, then there are medications.

we also asked about his leg that he kicks out every once in awhile....to which we found out that ollie has hip dysplasia and a luxating patella. i kind of suspected it from earlier, but hoped it was just a weird quirk. his isn't so bad, so no surgery...unless it gets a lot worse. just keep his weight down and try to avoid jumping up and down a lot...

he also squirmed and put up a huge fight when it was time to draw blood, which caused him to bleed a lot (all over the nurse's scrubs...oops)

poor little guy is pooped.

a new discovery!

a message from ollie:

hi everybody! my mommy & i discovered a new youtube channel that we LOVE! it's about a yorkie named Dexter (and his little sister named peppermint). Dexter is so funny and surprisingly smart and insightful :) His channel is called "dexter's ruff life"

here's one of his videos where he starts up his own business:

there are a ton of dexter videos to watch and it is now my favorite past time! (mommy's too!)

i hope everyone is having a great april! i know i am because my easter eggs have reappeared and i can now hunt eggs again!!! i love hunting easter eggs!

love,
ollie pollie

a new friend

ollie went to fur love last week, and made a new friend. it's rare that he encounters a dog smaller than himself, and this one was so cute (only 3 pounds)! she wore clothes and everything! {don't worry peanut, you're still the only girl for him!}

we had to get a picture of these 2 together, so adorable!

her little tanktop said "i ♥ treats" which ollie probably would've said "i ♥ treats too! we have so much in common!" lol.

ollie & friends #3: justin beaver

i thought i would bring back this little series i started this past november showcasing ollie's favorite toys. while ollie has A LOT of toys, there are a few that he always goes for...and this next one is one of his all time faves...

let me introduce you to.....

JUSTIN BEAVER!

yes, his little toy beaver is named justin beaver. i thought it was pretty funny. lol. he initially got the "original" J.B. as a gift from his doggie pal, spunky {thank you spunky!} and he loves it so much i bought 2 more {1 to leave at work & 1 to leave at nolan's parent's house.}!

safety seat

excessive and ridiculous? probably.

safe? supposedly.

ollie approved? DEFINITELY!

I finally bit the bullet and purchased a snoozer car seat for ollie to use on his daily car rides. up until now, he's been riding in his carrier, strapped in with a seat belt. while ollie loves his bag, it's not his favorite while in the car. he can't see out, and i think the way the seat belt goes through the seat belt slots of the carrier, it smashes him...and it's just not comfortable for him. poor guy.

i know it may seem a little ridiculous, but he does ride in the car daily...and it would be much more enjoyable for him, and me included (no more listening to him whine and scratch the bag as he demands to be let out)...now he's free, yet buckled in. and he LOVES it. peace has been restored in my car! :)

last night when we got home, he didn't even want to get off of the car seat! i'm really glad he likes it :)

peek-a-boo!

we don't really have the best car-ride situation going on. if it's just me and ollie, he rides in his bag, w/the seatbelt strapped through the little slots for a seatbelt. he's usually good about it, but at times he can be impatient and will scratch and bark to try to get out. {poor guy}

Today i heard some scratching and movement in the bag, and when i went to look, this is what i saw:

he had shoved his head through the tiny side opening that is meant to let the dog owner stick their hand in the bag to pet the dog to comfort them without the dog being able to get out. i didn't zip it back up because i didn't think there was any way he could fit through that narrow slit, but he did. so while i was driving home worried that his head was stuck and i'd have to cut the bag open, he sat there happy as a clam that he was partially free, with a much better view.

it's a good thing that today was also the day i ordered a doggy car seat. what a coincidence. :)
