His half brother Hugo (who moved with his family to Sweden) had pups with his girlfriend, nikita! So exciting! There were initially 3 puppies, but 1 (named butterfly) didn't make it :(  I really wish we could meet these precious little ones, but keeping up through the wonders of instagram isn't so bad...

Ducks!

a mama duck and her babies decided to make my parent's koi pond their temporary home...which meant Ollie had his own private duck pond!

thank goodness he was on leash because he would've been IN the pond in .02 seconds.  he couldn't get enough of them!  but sadly, the ducks have been removed from the property because they were not very good tenants. :(

Favorite treat

lately, Ollie has been OBSESSED with these treats...they are sweet potato wrapped with either duck or chicken. he goes NUTS. he barks and yelps and begs like he hasn't eaten in days! Just look how intensely he stares at it. you can get him to do just about anything for this treat!

 

usually we worry because he'll act like he likes something, you go out and buy several bags of it, and then he decides he doesn't like it anymore. so far, it hasn't been the case with these treats...maybe because we ration it and make him do every trick he knows just for 1.

Weekend fun

just a few pics of ollie's weekend adventures. we discovered the capitol had ducks that swam in the waters around the building, but this was the most we've ever seen! usually there are only a few. ollie was in heaven!

Ollie loves his long weekend walks, especially when Nolan comes with us. Nolan runs with him so he gets in a good workout :)

Ollie also accompanies me on my weekend treat stop: starbucks! coffee for me, water for him.  I've read on other blogs (in the mainland though) that some starbucks gives dogs "pupacinnos" which is a little tiny cup filled with whipped cream.

Therapy

Ollie loves visiting his great grandma!  He's such a great therapy dog for her. he is really gentle with her, gives her kisses, and likes to play. he'll show her his tricks and takes treats from her.  She loves seeing him and he always gets a smile from her. :)

Nolan and I were approached by someone at the pet expo the other month asking if we ever considered having Ollie become a therapy dog. honestly, that would be my dream.  but Ollie can be very unpredictable. certain strangers sends him into barking fits, and we can never tell why.  this alone is a reason we wouldn't think he'd be a good everyone-therapy dog.

but from the first time he met my grandma he was so good with her. and I consider it very lucky for all of us...and especially for her. her own private therapy dog :)

New places to explore

my parents recently moved to their new house, and we thought Ollie would miss the old place with its large windows overlooking the road where so many dogs walked by....it was the best "babysitter" as Ollie could just look out the window all day long.  now, at the new house, he has a new distraction, their fish pond:

in addition to the pond, Ollie has seems to have rediscovered their bed...which is the same bed they had at their old house, that Ollie never really cared about before.  But now it's his favorite place to be in the new house.  maybe it's the new comforter? who knows.  but you can always find him there with one of his toys.
